murphy in the park
« on: August 28, 2008, 12:46:28 PM »
I took Murphy to the park as usual on Sunday morning. When we got into the park I let him off the lead as I always do and whilst walking it started to rain.We were walking up the bank passed the bandstand when we came upon a man with a mentally handicapped girl in a wheelchair sheltering under the trees. The young girl was obviously very upset about the rainfall and started screaming as we walked passed her. This totally freaked out Murphy and he took off up the bank tail tucked under his legs. When I got to the top I shouted for him and he came out of the trees where I quickly put his lead on incase he took off on the way back.As it happend we had to pass the girl and her carer again on the way back who happened to be screaming louder and Murphy was so scared he ran me out of the park!!!By the time i got home with him I was Knackered!!  :-\Luckily there is no lasting scars and he is still eager to go walkies !! I can only think that a memory from his days in a domestic violence home triggered a bad memory of maybe shouts and screams followed by a hit or kick??? Anyways he sure could have won a greyhound out of that park!!!
