Our Peggy's nipples

Are little Peggy is now three years old and the wife wonts to breed her(I don't)The problem is her nipples(or what ever you call them)She has two fairly big ones down near her private with another two(each side)Not more than an inch away..Is this right or is there normality going on....Your help would be very geatfull in this matter..Chris

I think a lot of us have dogs with irregular nipples. Some close together, missing one etc, here was a therad about it a while ago. I shouldn't worry about it.
However i'd say that it's suchhhh a bad time to think about breeding your dog what with the credit crunch and there being so many dogs in rescue because of it; there are lots of litters of pups that can't be sold.
Various other reasons too but really, there are just not the homes for pups at the moment unfortunatly.

If you have no experience of breeding or what it entails then I suggest you have a read of this first to see what is involved.

Breeding is not for the faint hearted (could you cope with possibly losing your bitch if a complication occured?) and with the greatest respect the shape or location of her nipples is the last thing to worry about at this stage.

I totally agree with you CoCo...But the wife thinks differently...You just can not tell women they know best >:(....I have said lets wate another year or so....Then she said it will be to late...Any way thanks for putting my mine and the wife mine at rest...So its fairly normal for her boobies to be like that...Chris

I'm sorry but your wife needs some education first before she decides she really wants to breed. Not even knowing how many nipples or what they should look like doesn't make me feel your poor bitch is in the best hands. Your wife is proposing to breed when she doesn't even have basic anatomy knowledge for the poor bitch she intends to get a litter off. Your girl will be totally dependant on her for her health, for nutritonal needs and to make sure you can keep her and her puppies safe when the time comes. Can someone who seems to be looking through rose coloured glasses really help her.
Losing her through pregnancy is a real threat for any pregnant animal and you can't insure breeding pets on normal insurance policies so if require veterinary treatment at any time you'll be footing the bill yourselves.
If you don't want to breed and your wife does who will take responsibilty for those pups if they can't find good homes, you or a rescue centre?

Bluegirl...I am sorry to say in the lease that my wife is not educated to breed our bitch(Peggy)..How would you know....Just for the fact we are asking just one simple question about nipples...If it was normal or not...

That is a very harsh thing to say(i would not say the same about your self as i do not know you or you of my wife(as regards to how Meany nipples Peggy should have we are only just asking if it was normal or not)And not to told off that are Peggy is not-in the best of hands(poor bitch you quoted)(I THINK NOT)...

My wife has bred jack Russel's be for now and never had a problem..So i think she does know what she is doing....If she does decide to breed Peggy or not...

I am sure there are more members that have bread there bitch at a younger age than are Peggy is....The wife has waited for Peggy to become of age to breed her...

The wife has said that she would like to keep two of Peggy's pups for her self....As regards to finding homes that is not a problem around the area i live in...We already have a list of Friends and family that would like one of Peggy's pups if (WE) did decided to breed her...I would go further to say she would keep all Peggy's pups rather than let them go....

We also have a vet right on our door step if any thing should happen to her (in fact 24/7)We are also able to pay out right for any care what so ever if any thing should happen.....(being in a position to do so)Also to have the vet on hand when Peggy does go into labor....

I'll close this as the OP's question has been answered and I don't want this turning into another argument.

Seaangler, all the advice given on this thread has been given with the best of intentions - you only have to look at the Rescue board to see how many Cockers are currently coming into rescue and it is now a reality that puppies are no longer as easy to sell as before (no matter where you might live or how many friends may have expressed an interest in having a pup). Nobody can force you to listen to this advice of course but it might help others reading this who are considering breeding ;)
