Rabies Vaccine?
« on: January 13, 2009, 01:04:37 PM »
Just had Ozzi vaccinated for Rabies for a pet passport. Hoping to take him to France with us in the summer for our holidays. I know I shouldn't have, but just looked on the internet as I didn't ask the vet if there are any side effects. ph34r Really wish I hadn't ::)
Has anyone else had any experience of the vaccine and can you reassure me it will be ok?
I should learn not to look :-\ I do it with the kids health too and then get myself wound up with the ' what ifs'!!!!!!
Any help very much appreciated
Ally & Ozzi :luv:
When did he take over my life?:-)

I had one of mine done last Summer, as he has gone to live in the Czech Republic.
He was absolutely fine.  :D

Charley has been vaccinated against Rabies since 2001 for the Pet's Passport Scheme and has suffered no ill effects.

I shouldn't worry about it, but make sure that your vet has used the three yearly re-vaccination.  You will have to wait now for his blood test to ensure the vaccine has taken.

Both Archie and Cosak have had the rabies jabs and have not had any side effects at all. The only thing Archie got was a rash when they shaved a small patch off his neck when he had the blood test.

Thank you all for the replies :D Oz seems absolutely fine and was very good and didn't squeal either :luv:
I really must stop looking on the internet :005:
Blood tests are booked for 28 days as the vet said this was when the immune system peaks.
Thanks again Allisonx
