I have been Googling mast cell tumours and it would seem that there is not a common appearance for these tumours. One can look very different to another.

And that they can grow very quickly, even in one day.

I have also read that it is possible for them to fall off or be knocked off.

I wonder if it just could be one that you haven't spotted yet?

It's a real puzzle isn't it? I would love to know when/if you find out.

Definitely not a tic or animal innards. Too hard for vet to cut into
Vet reckons that it is most likely a tumour that has dropped off or been coughed up
She thinks Ali most likely suspect but because she is contented at minute and is an elderly lady it is best just to wait and watch  :-\

I'm sorry to hear that, that's not very good news just waiting and watching, isn't there anything else your vet can do?

Is the vet going to send it to the lab to be tested? I think they should try to find out where it came from as there could be more of them, and you don't want anyone to be in discomfort. :-\

I would want it investigated too. Did she ask you to bring the dogs in for a check up to see if she can spot any signs that it might have come from one of them?

I was wondering if it could have been a kidney or bladder stone? Particularly as you found it in a pool of clear fluid?

She was checked over.  It definitely hasn't come from any of the tumours we knew about. The thing is we know that Ali was riddled with tumours when we got her a year ago and that her age was estimated at 11 then. The worst tumours were removed but not all so we know that she is livng on borrowed time. :'( :'( But as long as she is happy and comfortable at the moment we can't take the risk of giving her any more anaesthesia. :-\

i sometimes think its best to leave them when they get to a certain age, my old boxer from years ago had his eye out ,and had to be castrated because of tumours, he lived until he was 13 which is old for a boxer but it got to the stage where the vets said it was more dangerous to knock him out, ive got a white cat who had his leg amputated last year again tumour, his ears and a small patch on his head are cancerous, but not hurting him in any way according to the vet, he is nearly 17yrs so we wont put im through more ops, i too remember you finding ali , i have a soft spot for boxers and hope shes ok and that you will have her for a good while with you yet  :luv: :luv:
