Digging through the walls!
« on: July 16, 2009, 09:37:50 AM »
Hi I don't know if someone has already put this problem up but Bailey is now 14 mths and the last month or so he is digging at the walls. But really the wall that is at the front of the house, under the window. He only does it when he is on his own and not every time. He has 3 other dogs to keep him company. I am not sure if it just him trying to escape to get to us or when the other dogs bark at people outside the house he wants to get to them. Anyway since we never catch him doing it how can I correct his behaviour. I have left him yoys to work on like the kongs etc it makes no difference. Please help!

It's either stress or boredom or a combination of both. How long is he left alone for and what exercise does he get beforehand? Does he pant a lot or whine/bark just before you go out? It doesn't sound like full on separation anxiety but you could try making sure he is thoroughly exercised before you leave and also mentally tired by doing a short training/play session or even just playing hide and seek with his food. Or how about not giving him access to the front room?
