Thanks for your replies. We are supposed to be going on holiday to our caravan with the boys next week. Not sure what to do about it now but I suppose I will have to wait and see how it goes on Tuesday. I haven't used a crate for him since he was a pup but I do still have one.  I have got a puppy pen which I still use to block the doors to keep them in the conservatory so think that I might have to move furniture around a bit to give him a "quiet" area so he can have complete rest.  Can't believe how good he has been really, he's normally such a nervous boy but he hasn't seemed bothered by his injury.

Thank you for thinking of him.

He had an xray and it was cruciate ligament damage so he had his op yesterday.  He came home today and is ok although much quieter than usual but thats not necessarily a bad thing!  He's had all of the hair shaved off his leg and has about a 4inch scar so it looks pretty grim.  He's not using the back leg at all but they said that this will gradually get better.

The worst thing is that he's not to have any exercise for two weeks except to go into the garden for toilet visits! I think he will be able to have very short lead walks after that for 6 weeks Anyone that knows my murphy will know how difficult this is going to be as he doesn't sit still normally.  I've put new beds in the conservatory for him and "penned" him in so he can have peace and quiet but he looks so sad I do let him out every now and again so he doesn't feel like he's in trouble. I'm far too soft with that boy!

By the way its £950 so far.  We are insured but hope they pay up - they were very vague on the phone when I rang and wouldn't confirm either way!

For his own good (and it will break your heart) you have to be very strict on his complete rest  - please do not give in else his leg will never get better  :'( :'( 

Just keep on thinking that this is only for a few weeks, and it will benefit him for the rest of his life  :luv: :luv:

I know and I am really really trying to be firm (he's been in for about an hour now).  It doesn't help that Paddy keeps trying to dive bomb over the top of the pen so he can sit with his mate! Paddy has been a real pest this afternoon since murphy came home  >:D

All joking aside, I know that its for his own good and really appreciate your advice.  Might be asking for more soon - not sure what to do about our holiday at the end of next week. We are supposed to be going to cornwall with the dogs to our caravan. I've bought a ramp so he could get in and out of the car/caravan but don't know if it would be better to cancel it or not.  I have to see the vet again on Monday so will ask him but any advice would be appreciated.
