Red snow - who is it? (she's been and no red huh ??)
« on: January 03, 2010, 03:01:21 PM »
Well I think it is fern when she is having a wee

Am trying to watch her like a hawk but the little madam just is not having a wee at the mo (nothing unusual there tho) she is fine in herself altho could do with a long walk (we haven't been able to get to a decent walk due to all this white stuff

She hasn't eaten anything - and I have checked her and Rhum over and neither seem to be bleeding from anywhere ???  Fern has been spayed, bout 2 yrs ago now

any ideas please

Will be phoning vet tomorrow morning and taking her in

Is she drinking more than normal?

or does she seem in any pain when she goes?

Take a sample in with you tomorrow if you can

No she doesn't seem to be drinking more than normal (well saying that I have been out the last two hours and the kids were watching her)

If I can get her to go for a wee I'll try and get a sample to take, but with all this snow and ice around it's hard trying to run around after her in the garden.

Oooo just thought she has been eating some of the ice - we've been trying to stop them

Aww hun, what a worry.  Hope it is nothing serious and that you can sort out which of the 2 dogs is actually turning the snow red!
Has Rhum been humping Fern?  Maybe he got a bit over excited or something??? (Don't know much about boy dogs, can you tell?)
Healing hugs from here.

she could have an UTI and I believe it's sometimes caused by snow/ice eating, or could well have cystitits.
Definitely get a urine sample - if it is Cystitits homeopathic Cantharis is really good for it  ;) and a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar over her meal or some in their drinking water can help with bladder infections too.

No advice, just wanted to say I hope you get it sorted  :luv:
The reason dogs have so many friends is because they wag their tails instead of their tongues.

Ditto :luv:

Does it definately look like it's come from wee? Because Meg must have bitten her tongue or caught her gum the other day when she was chewing a stick as the snow was turning red too - certainly wasnt her wee or anything else.

Good luck ;) xxxx

SHE@S just been and not any sight of red / blood at all

I am now totally puzzled to where this red has come from

Rhum is weeing normally and making yellow snow

I have checked them both all over

weird or what

I will keep an eye on it

thanks Helen  :luv: - as i stated earlier she has been eating it and I have been doing my best to stop them both from this - mmm sometimes you really wish you hadn't got them to enjoy ice cubes when they were younger

It may well be one of their mouths, have you managed to have a look? Or perhaps a tiny cut inbetween their toes? Or, as you said Rhum was licking Fern's rear, maybe she has been straining to go to the toilet and has a little tear, you could hold a piece of tissue against her to check. Blood looks worse when it is in water or snow, it seems much more than it is.
