Well, Honey is just home from her second McTimoney manipulation.
Hopefully we will see some noticeable improvement, after a few days of rest.
It has been really interesting. Firstly it appears Honey has an unusually small pelvis (which I guess helps explain why, although she's not overweight, she doesn't have the normal defined waist). Her pelvis was slightly twisted, which had been causing stress down her right hindleg - this is the leg I've never been happy with. It was hard to really explain, but it always just seemed to be a little awkward... it was also this (or the left foreleg) which she had occassional limps on. This was greatly improved today from our first appointment, so hopefully this is good progress.
Initially we assumed the leg issue was the cause of her twitching and discomfort along her spine and ribs... but today, with the leg so much better, it was clear it wasn't. It turns out she had serious tension in one of the muscles that runs around the ribs, to the spine. This would explain the intense reaction she had to T-Touch in the area, and could have been contributing to her erratic response to unfamiliar dogs, as it will have been causing her some discomfort. So that's all been released (Honey did NOT enjoy that process!!!) and now she has to rest for a few days to reduce the risk of the tension returning...
We are going for a follow up appointment in about 6 months time, so hopefully this will have improved things for Honey.
I would certainly recommend McTimoney to anyone who's dog seems uncomfortable in certain situations (especially with handling or interactions with other dogs), or anyone who just doesn't think their dog is moving as freely as it should be. We never had any major concerns about her mobility, it was just a feeling that it didn't look 100% right.
Will update again in a few days once she is back to normal exercise.
