Here is the only thing I found:

Otherwise it seems that they should be able to lead healthy lives.

(for the nosy interested  :005: there are some graphic pictures in this link:

I can only tell you of 2 that I have been told of, one was the last cocker a lady had and I believe they bought her as a she, but it became apparent that things were not right. She was neutered and she lived a long, healthy and otherwise uneventful life. The other was also a cocker and she was a rescue dog and once neutered is living a full life.

check this link,

http://bakerinstitute.vet.cornell.edu/faculty/page.php?id=206 and scroll down

The picture of the puppybelly is from a dutch hermaphrodite english cocker spaniel. Again some graphic pictures.

XXSR (bitches (XX) that look like dogs) is inherited in english cocker spaniels. The baker institute is working on a genetic test (well you posted in genetics  ;) ) for it. I have heard they are close to finding it. So if you know a hermaphrodite dog (or own one) you could send a DNA-sample. On this forum it is mentioned that it is a particular puppy-mill inbreed disease, but all the dutch hermaphrodites came from well-known kennels from champion-dogs.

I have read somewhere that some could have emotional problems, due to hormon inbalance.

The subject was brought up in relation to this rescue pup http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/discuss/index.php?topic=71300.0
There are a few COL members with some experience of owning hermaphrodites
