Screeching in the crate

Its in the lounge with the door open in the day then I take it to the foot of my bed for night time. Is that something I should try not to do?

I'm new to crate use myself (only had our pup two weeks), but did a fair bit of reading up on it before I bought one, and I am sure that I saw it recommended (in a number of different articles) that it's best to put the crate in one place and not to move it. I'm not saying it's wrong to move it, just that I read that it was best not to, in order for the pup to be more likely to feel safe and settled. Others may have different experiences though.

Oh ok, the only thing is they don't have access to the bedroom in the daytime, thats why i've been bringing it into the lounge in the day. To be honest, he doesn't ever go in there anyway, maybe I should leave it in the bedroom then. And i'm going to try having it right next to my side of the bed so I can put my hand down to him. Thanks for the tips guys, very much appreciated when its a bit of a struggle on my own

The first few nights when Roxy wouldn't settle we put her crate in front of the washing machine(with it on!).  The noise used to send my children to sleep so we thought we'd give it a go and it worked.  We also have a microwaveable pillow from P@H that we heat up before bedtime each night which she loves and also cuddles upto in the day if she finds it.

  We've only gone and cracked it gang!! Used a few tips all at once, and it instantly worked. Not a squeak apart from to go to the loo halfway! I am sooooo relieved  I washed the blankets and bathed him, moved the crate right next to the bed so I could put my hand in, removed the cover off the top of the crate. He was fantastic. I could not be happier and I really cannot thank you all enough, this was really getting me down and I am so relieved. Thank you thank you thank you

Way to go Harvey!!!! Hope it continues!! Almost wish we had put Freddie's crate in our room from the beginning - he is an early riser - tried moving it in a week or so ago but he was having none of it at 8 months!!

I really can't thank you all enough, your experience and guidance has become a huge help for me. Just wish I knew of this place when I first had Freya  I am one happy bunny

Dylan did that until we covered his crate in a blanket. He was then perfect! He's in the corner so has two sides automatically blocked out - so the blanket goes over the top and hangs over the front of it. He was the shorter side still open though.

We've done this for the last 6 months we've had the crate - and it works so well, so much so, if we leave a little gap he'll bark until its covered!
