Question about Ticks
« on: July 21, 2010, 02:16:48 PM »
A few days before we went camping  last weekend I frontlined the dogs just to be on the safe side.  Since being back I have found a couple of dead ticks on the dogs.  I've removed them with the oTom, but the ticks were all dried up and I know on the 2nd one it didn't all come out.  So have put some savlon creme on.

Am I better just leaving these dead ticks to fall off by themselves rather than attempt to remove them.  The frontline has obviously done its job as they are most definitely dead.

Last year before I bought the oTom I couldn't get a tick off Rosie so put a tick killer on (can't remember which). After it died I couldn't get it out so asked Vet who advised to leave until it fell off. It took about 2 weeks but did fall off and didn't leave a sore. So I would just leave it but keep an eye on it incase of infection.
