Fussy blummin' Dog
« on: July 12, 2011, 10:45:57 AM »

It was a hard job getting Honey to eat Liver.
After months of liquidising it and mixing with other stuff, we eventually got her to eat it on it's own - as long as it's New Zealand Lamb's liver....

Now we've just signed up to a delivery company who does free-range meat, and they sell a pet mince.  Fantastic, I thought, a nice cheap way to get free-range meat for the dog...
But it contains Liver.
Of "some" description - all I can say for certain is that it's NOT New Zealand Lamb's Liver, so Honey won't eat the mince.
And, yes, she would rather go hungry than eat it.

Not after advice, as we either persist and she eats very little for a few days of the week or we give up and don't buy the mince anymore.  Just needed to share quite how fussy my little doglet is....

(Bearing in mind she now doesn't bother coming through to hover at the highchair for breakfast, as she's not that fussed on toast and cereal, so saves her scavenging activity for other meals when there's tastier scraps on offer...)

She's recently even got bored with cheese - she'll eat it, but it doesn't motivate her for clicker training any more...

aaaah I know there's airmiles on that liver but you can't blame a girl for having exceptional taste!  :lol2:

Are you sure Mr Fussypants hasn't been on the phone to her?  He's well known for his *cough* discerning taste  ph34r

William won't eat liver at all. I've tried sneaking small pieces into his food but he fishes them out and spits them out on the kitchen floor :005:

In fact I've given up now, because it almost caused a fight between William and Louis last time. Louis, who likes liver, went to snatch a piece that William had spat onto the floor and Wills flew at him :o. For about 10 seconds it was definitely more than handbags then both of them had the sense to back off each other and look sheepish. Interestingly, it was Louis who calmed down first. I caught William giving him the evil eye a couple more times later in the day and Louis avoiding him. They sorted it for themselves though.

As with most food, Sonny loves liver; dried out as training treats, raw or cooked normally. The only thing I've ever known him not like was pineapple - he'll still take a piece if offered but he tends to chew it a bit and then give up.

No liver here either. I hate the smell, look, taste of it. It gives the dogs the squits. Even the OH has to have it away from the house :005: :005: :005:

I sympathise with you Karma for having a fussy dog. I have just put the remains of Jasmine's breakfast in the dog's bowls. They obviously don't like Ready Brek or Shreddies as they have all left it alone. Mind you, Jazzie wasn't too impressed either!

Sympathies from here too  >:D
Until Ms Fussy Pants aka Georgia came along, we had never had a fussy eater before & it never crossed my mind how frustrating & sometimes upsetting it can be.  :'(
We have had quite a few problems recently trying to get her to eat anything  :'(  the list of foods offered her is just huge & as it stands today she will only eat boiled chicken breasts.  :o  She has lost weight over the past few weeks, so i can't play the waiting game with her because she really needs to get some weight on her.  :'(
