You have my full symapthy on this one. I was almost demented by our little 'house guest' who insisted on howling every night at bed time (proper wolf howling not just whimpering lol)
I tried everything from covering the crate to not covering the crate, leaving a radio on, leaving a light on. On several occassions I even gave up and slept on the sofa I was so tired, but still refused to take her up the stairs.
We cracked it after 7 nights when Wisp wouldnt get out of the wee ones crate one night so I shut them both in together. Bliss! Two nights of sleeping together and all she needs now is her blanket (she still wont go in the crate without it).
I must add tho, that although the wee one is 18 months and was used to a crate, she had been a kennel dog so it was just trying to work out what was making her feel insecure. She's been here since christmas and is really coming out her shell now.
Good luck. It'll be worth it in the end
