weeing on heat
« on: August 04, 2012, 03:53:05 PM »
hi i have not been on for ages but so glad this site exists cos i really need advice. Gypsy seems to have been at the vets nearly every month with one thing or another! My vet was fairly non committal to my questions hence asking here. Gypsy has been on heat since 25th July and has just started weeing in the house (more than marking as its lots not a sprinkle). Could it be that dogs sometimes get a urine infection while on heat? Again i have asked the vet but as yet no response from urine testing (i think they have lost it!). Anyone elses dog gone back a step while on heat? Thanks Georgina
Gypsy has come to create havoc in our lives. We love her but the cats do not!

Yes :)

Amber certainly took a step backwards in her toilet training while in season and would wee in the house at least once a day. At first I thought it was because I was walking her at different times of day and therefore disrupting her routine, but given that she'll normally 'ask' to go out, I think that the hormones must have affected her too.

I sometimes find my girls will have accidents or are not able to hold themselves overnight when they are coming up to a season. I haven't experienced anything whilst they are in season except for the excessive scent marking whilst on walks.

She may have a possible UTI or cystitis on top of being in season or it may well just turn out to be something that happens to her whilst in season as HeatherandBenjy says.

Hope she's ok.
