First groom
« on: February 10, 2013, 03:04:45 PM »
Marley had his first professional groom yesterday. We were nervous leaving him and didn't know how he'd react to it.

Well the groomers face said it all!

This obviously wasn't a good experience for Marley or the groomer although they have done a great job.

Feel a bit bad now, maybe we left it too late at five and a half months.

Any tips to prepare him for the next visit would be greatly received.

Oh dear!

Our Jem went at 4 months just to have a wash and dry and to get her used to the equipment. She has been fine from the first time though, and she did go with our other dog which may have made a difference.

Lily Freya had much the same problem last week, so you might like to look at this thread,

If nothing else, it will reassure you that you aren't alone!

Might be worth asking if you can stay next time, then try feeding treats while she's grooming him. I think I stayed the first couple of times with Jess, my first cocker, who was very nervous. She never enjoyed being groomed but tolerated it eventually.
