Blade for a short clip

I will be ordering the Andis 2 speed clippers+10 blade soon,i will also order the 7f blade but my question is if i want to clip Ruby very short should i get a higher blade 

I keep going back to Micheles sticky and keep thinking i need all the different blade sizes,i'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and i'm not near cutting her yet.

You should be fine with those blades. Number 10 is about 1.8mm and number 7 is 3.2mm. Start with the number 7 which should be fine but if you want shorter still then go back over with a 10 blade.
Using 7f in reverse will also give you a number 10 finish.

How do you do that? - is that going against the lay of the coat?

I use a 5f for Coco's body and a 10 for her face and head    The 10 gives a very short, tidy finish and the 5f leaves a bit of length but not much

Have to admit that I accidently clipped Misha's body with a 10f and got a very nice finish, unfortunately now when I use a 7f I don't get the same smooth finish any more.

I must admit i do like a short clip,so will prob use the 10 blade eventually.

Have over a month to go before i get my clippers though

Yes that's right Toni  I use the 10 blade on Alfie, it is very short but it does suit his coat & I leave some feathers/skirt and just clip the top of his ears so he still looks cocker ish

just done mine with an 8 1/2, looked better on George than Ellie, but I think they have found it a bit cold at the moment, better for the summer months if we get some!
