My First Cocker Spaniel (rescued) strain?

Hey guys, as suggested by the title, I'm new hear and have had my first dog and indeed first cocker since January now.
She is nearly 5 months old, we got her from a local dogs home that had both her and a brother and she was 12 weeks when we got her.
They told us she was pedigree, but I am still trying to get hold of her papers if indeed she has any at all, but in the meantime I was wondering, can any of you guys tell whether she is show strain or working strain just from looking at her? I'm interested in training her for agility shows, but I am assuming working cockers are most suited to that.

  she looks like show type to me. Both types do well at agility - both of my show types loved it - so I hope you have lots of fun with her when she's old enough.

She looks like a show strain to me. Agility isnt necessarily suited to just workers. There are plenty of show strain cockers on here that do agility.

A very warm welcome to COL, Sophie is gorgeous. I would say she is possibly a show. I am sure she would enjoy agility when she is older. I wonder why two pups so young ended up in rescue? I dont think you will get any papers for her but I wouldnt worry about that.

I agree she looks like a show type.  I'm sure she will do great at agility.  I've done some with my blue roan show cocker.  She was very fast.  We are currently doing some gundog training and plan to go back to agility afterwards.

I don't think the papers are important at all.  Enjoy your beautiful girl.

She looks like a mix to me - mainly show with a bit of working, possibly, as her ears look a little higher set than a pure show. Very cute indeed! I'm a bit partial to blues myself  If she does have a bit of working strain in her it might help with agility (sorry don't have any experience of it myself, although was very entertained watching it at Crufts on the TV).

I met a woman nearby who had a rescued Westie from Battersea - she was taken there at 10weeks. I guess sometimes if the pups haven't sold then the breeder doesn't have any other options (if keeping them isn't possible ) Lucky for you. Did her brother get re-homed too?

I'd say a bit of both strains, ears do look to be set a little high to be full show.

I'd say show strain - she's holding her ears high on her head in the photos (our pups do that too when someone is attracting their attention ).

I'm sure when she's old enough she'll enjoy agility - you can still compete in agility without her original papers by registering her on the Activity Register.

Her face is very much like my Ollie especially the ears, his Mum was show but his dad was working so I would say she is a mix. It still means she is a full pedigree.

I think she's a show type too - her ears do seem quite high set, but then so do Ozzy's when he's pricked them up and is paying attention, and he's all show type!  You have a gorgeous girl there and I'm sure she'll do well at agility if that's what you want.

She reminds me very much of Cosmo when he was younger, with the slightly higher set ears but the longer fur that is more usual on show types. Cosmo is a worker. Whatever type she is..... She is beautiful!

Haha, just realised that I spelt it wrong, my bad! It should be "Sophie", or at least that's what I put on her tag! :')
