irish bred cocker spaniels.
« on: May 12, 2013, 08:26:53 PM »
hi all ive been looking again at my pegs mum's pedigree and ive decided they must be irish dogs some of the names on her mum's side are gruaig bill, slamina lucky star, smiley sally of cork and padraig's rustic dream. i think they sound very irish to me,dont you agree :shades: so if her mum's parents were irish is there anyway i could find out more about irish bred cockers. i can not find any of them on the cocker spaniel database, i do hope they were all well bred cockers from good stock but im beginning to wander.
her father's side is all very posh if you see what i mean i would just love to know more about her mum's side. her mum was a dog from the sussex area bred by a mrs jewitt. obviously all these dogs are 12 plus now some have probably all gone to the bridge.
would be very glad if anyone can suggest where i look next.
thanks tracey

It might help if you can either scan the pedigree on here or type the names here :D

hi. well that makes sense i will type them out .

pride of the hill--   guraig bill  ---- smiling sally of cork and kathleen's pet

jess (pegs mum) ---                             slamina lucky star  ---- padrigs rustic dream and smokey

currymount lily --  golden freeze -----  karnmore damart and mount carmel honey

florrie girl   ------   our golden wander boy and dip sleep

does that make sense how i have done it. pride and lily are jess's parents then her 4 grandparents then there parents together. all seem a bit irish to me. peg's dad's side is much more straightforward he was a rosaday dog.
thanks tracey

Sadly I don't think you'll have much luck tracing those dogs - most of the names don't have an affix/kennel name so very hard to trace breeders. You're right that it looks like Jess was bred in the Cork area but not from well-known show lines. You could try contacting the Cocker Club of Ireland and see if anyone can help there: http://www.cscoi.ie/
