frightened ???
« on: May 26, 2013, 10:45:27 PM »
Marley is 10 months old and up to now hasn't shown fear of anything until today when the kids were playing badminton and turns out he is terrified of the shuttle cock.
This had the kids in stitches but he was genuinely frightened.

Do your cockers have strange fears?
 :D

One of mine freaked at kilts, but being from England it's not something I'm worried about.

WE were on holiday last week in Norfolk they had a Lobster & Crab festival in Sheringham. There were diffrent groups of morris men one group in purple with purple painted faces.  Thought Jessie was going to join in with barking, so used a treat and at a distance got her to look at the Morris men when calm and then watched me and treated.  We moved a little nearer till she was watching the Morris dancers and then watching me and then she had a treat.  Would putting the shuttlecock on the floor and when she investigates throwing a treat help.

Louis is terrified of the DVD player. It's close to ground level and when I'm sat on the sofa and press the button so that the DVD drawer slides out poor Louis runs out of the room with his tail between his legs. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so pitiful, poor little chap. I've tried sitting on the floor near the player and feeding him treats as the drawer slides open but he's still hugely suspicious of it.

My Alfie was nervous of cats the first few times he saw one and refused to walk past one that was lying down on the pavement once. In time, as he saw more cats on his travels he got used to them and now gets all excitable when he sees a cat. I think, in line with what Jessie_pup mentions, introducing him to the shuttlecock perhaps could help. I try and get Alfie used to as many different things in the environment as possible.

Ozzy decided last week that he was scared of the oven tray that I cook chips on!!!!  OH and I were washing up the dinner things, and I put the tray in the draining rack and Ozzy started to bark and back away from it.  The tray has small holes in it and the sun was shining through the holes, and we think that it must have looked strange from Ozzy's perspective, being on the floor and looking up!   :005:

At a craft fair yesterday, men in high viz jackets organising parking, particularly the ones with voices coming out of the walkie talkie in their pockets. She had to sit and look at them for a good minute or two before she'd walk past them.

Ozzy doesn't like people in high vis jackets either.  There is a security guard who lives over the road from us and goes to work every evening about 7pm in his bright yellow high vis jacket - if he spots him he goes mental!!!

My Marley doesn't like the lawnmower.  It is strange as she has had the same exposure to it that her sister had.
Stevie is confident with it and walks alongside me as I am mowing and tries to cause me damage by attempting to put a stone under the rotating blade that could easily fly up in my face  >:(  I am constantly on the look out to see what she is doing  >:(  Have I done something bad to her in the past that she holds a grudge for?  :005: :005:
