I never cease to enjoy watching a puppy develop. When you realise that just a few long weeks ago the little mite never existed, and now he's exploring his new environment. It happens with all pups, but I love to see how they come to terms with their world.
Jamie has started to explore the garden. At first he never ventured far from the patio. Then he would follow Henry onto the garden, and back as soon as Henry returned to the house. The last couple of days he has been exploring the bottom of the garden, alone. I did away with flower beds quite a few years ago when I spent a lot of time at my holiday home in France. Now, the garden is bordered with a shrubbery and a small wild patch at the bottom of the garden for wildlife. Jamie has enjoyed himself delving among the shrubs and running backwards and forwards at the bottom of the garden. He was startled by Blackbirds' warning cries, and stood still with his left paw raised and tail out straight. He knows his name, and usually comes running when I call him. He has flatly refused to acknowledge my calls when he was having fun in the garden. It's all so new to him, and it's a pleasure to observe his behaviour.
