Naughty naughty pup!
« on: January 08, 2014, 06:55:47 PM »
Hi would be grateful for any advice, my 8 month cocker pup has decided to become extremely naughty!! She is being quite nippy (which we had just put a stop to after teething!) and is also into barking and chewing! She has been to puppy classes and has plenty of exercise off lead in the fields, is this just a naughty phase? :( I'm hoping so!

Welcome to adolescence! It's a normal phase for her age where behaviour can take a step backwards. They also go through a secondary teething stage around now when the back teeth start setting in, which explains the mouthing/nipping.

It's a case of going back to basics with training and waiting until the storm passes :shades: which I hope isn't too long for you!

Might be a little early but could she be about to come into season for the first time? I have read lots of posts on here regarding behaviour changes around their season. With Bonnie, she suddenly started barking a lot....we couldn't work out why because she's never been a barker. A week or so later, her season started.

Of course, it could just be adolescence, as JennyBee said. Oh the joys of our beautiful Cocker's  :005: :005:
