I also had a beautiful but unruly looking 7 month old blue roan and although I was perfectly happy with her shaggy, bear-like look, I had so many comments from people saying that she looked like she needed a trim that I booked an appointment for her and was told that it would be mainly washing and drying and a small trim to get her used to the experience.  My beautiful girl now resembles a sheep with a very sleek head, short ears, very closely clipped lower legs and feet topped off with her untouched, fluffy puppy body.  Heartbreaking!...

Minstrel (7.5 months) also looks like a shaggy dog story at the minute, but I can see a potential flat shiny coat coming visible, so I am trying not to get him trimmed, unless I have to.
Remembering Smudge 23/11/2006 - 3/8/2013, Branston 30/8/14 - 28/10/22, and Minstrel 24/6/13 - 13/8/24 all now at the Bridge.

Use a comb with elastic threaded through.  You'll find that the fluffy coat will come out and leave the sleek coat behind.
