Switching between flavours...?
« on: February 01, 2014, 06:35:05 PM »

I'm sure I've seen this question asked before but couldn't find it, so apologies!

Am I okay switching between flavours of one brand of food, without introducing it gradually as though it were a totally new food? HB currently eats JWB Junior fish and rice. Irritatingly, Zooplus only sell the turkey and lamb flavours, and its a tenner more for the same size bag of fish flavour on Viovet  >:( .... I'm always over cautious with him and food as he had colitis when he was younger. Not sure if its worth the risk to change, but also, no point spending more than I have to!

Also, he doesn't get on with chicken at all. Is turkey likely to cause him similar troubles with it being a similar meat?

Thanks
R

Normally I would say it should be OK, but if he has a sensitive tum, I would do it gradually.

Same with trying out the turkey - it may be fine, but best to do it over a few days in case it doesn't agree with him  ;)

When Archie was a pup he had JWB for a while but it didn't really suit him and his poos were pretty loose. I tried all the flavours without major incident  :shades:. None made things worse although the fish produced the best output.

As you know he is wet fed now but he doesn't tolerate turkey (it makes him hyper) but can eat chicken without a problem so maybe HB would be OK on the turkey.

15kg is about £38 on zooplus (but no fish) and £47 on viovet. Just found some on amazon for 40 so could go for that...

Going to have another look later on. We're not desperate yet anyway, was only looking yesterday as I had a zooplus discount code that needs using up!
