Is it possible/advisable to change the time of feeding
« on: February 11, 2014, 03:59:03 PM »
Tia is 3 1/2 years old and is fed after her afternoon walk at 4pm, since the arrival of Ozzy we are incorporating some of his walks with Tia (short walks for now) but she pulls like a locomotive and it is difficult to control them both.

Is it possible and advisable to gradually push back her feed time to early evening to try and lose the eagerness to get home to be fed, as I am sure that is why she pulls as hard as she does at that time of day. She does pull at other times but not as bad as this.

I was thinking of giving her half her feed after her walk and half her feed later, and gradually reduce one as I increase the other. Do you think this would work ?

Sounds like a very sensible plan  :D.

Can I also suggest that when Tia pulls you just stand still until the lead is slack - makes for a very slow walk but that's to Ozzy's advantage just now  ;). It shouldn't take long for Tia to realise that you only go forward when she's not pulling and will be teaching Ozzy at the same time  :D
