Not interested in food
« on: March 04, 2014, 11:38:41 AM »
Millie is 5 months old now and has always been on Eukanuba puppy food. She has never been that fussed about her meals and we dropped the 4th meal after a few weeks because she wouldn't touch it. Over the last month she has been eating less and less but I put it down to teething. Last week she was sick one night and had diarrhoea ever since. If I give her chicken/fish with rice she eats it so now I'm thinking its the food she doesn't like so I want to change it. I want a quality dry food, what do you think I should try?

does she still have diarrhoea? Poor Millie. My Archie is also 5 months and he has never been that fussed about meals either, although he is now fed Nutriment raw puppy food and is doing well with it. That's obviously wet food though.

a while back I bought him some Millies Wolfheart countryside mix (suitable for puppies) which is dry food, and actually he really likes this, so I use this as training treats.

perhaps Millie would like it?
Hope you get the diarrhoea sorted out, have you been to the vet?

Make some time to have a look on http://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/ which has reviews of numerous types and makes of food and explanations of the ingredients and processes used and how to look for what's good and what's not.

There are plenty of good foods out there and plenty of bad ones too!

I took her to the vet in the end. Thy gave her some paste to help with the diarrhoea and some wet food for sensitive stomachs. Wow what a difference a little wet food makes. I only give her a tablespoon with a bit of kibble and she clears the bowl. I really didn't want to give er wet food but looks like we will be continuing with a very small amount every day. Happy Millie = happy owners   :luv:

It all depends on what suits your dog best - Pearl loved Applaws but it was too rich for her, She turned her nose up at Burns, likes Barking heads and loved being raw fed but it made her constipated (even without bones...). She's on Skinners salmon and rice and keeps a constant weight plus seems in good condition.

Has Millie recovered from her upset tum? I think I would keep her on the same food until she's completely back to normal before trying new brands/flavours......
