New puppy has lice

Dear all

We brought our new puppy home on Saturday she itched all morning.  I managed to take her to the vets that day and turns out she has biting lice. They gave her stronghold but she is still itching like mad. Really feel for her and worried about my other dog catching them.   She has been given stronghold as well. 

New puppy is only 8 weeks old is there anything I could bath her in to help.

Hello and welcome to COL - we love to know all about new pups (including piccies when you have time) like name etc.

tbh I would be careful about bathing her whilst she is on treatment - they may conflict, without advice from your vet.

I may be being over cautious

Hi and welcome to COL :D

This is the product info. about Stronghold http://petprescription.co.uk/healthcare/cat%20information%20/flea%20control%20for%20cats/stronghold/ and it says not to bath your dog for 2 hours after application. So I think you'd be fine to bath your puppy, but would suggest you use a mild puppy shampoo and not one with anything insecticidal in it.

Thanks everyone the stronghold has started to work and the lice have died off.  Gone over her with a fine nit comb to get the nits out.  She seems a lot happier over the last couple of days.

I will post up some details all about her

Sounds like you acted quickly and have helped sort your new little furball. Glad to hear it's sorted. Well done.
