Ace is a very sweet (but can be timid) cocker spaniel Boy, and he is also partially sighted.

We want to rehome him with another older (not another pup though) sighted dog, especially as his sight may deteriorate. A lot of things scare him at the moment so am gently socialising him. His greatest love is to cwtch up with you.

He may go blind but 1st and foremost he is a puppy and a cocker spaniel so will have needs applicable to his age, breed and other abilities (or lack of).

It is a condition of adoption that he is neutered at six months old

Ace is currently undergoing an assessment and will be ready for re-homing from the 25th Sept.  Applications are welcome during the assessment period.  Approved applications will be home checked.

Details of our adoption procedures and adoption application form are http://www.fourpawsanimalrescue.org.uk/adoption_procedures.html

I had the pleasure of meeting Ace today at a fundraiser and he did come more out of himself while he was there - he was very unsure to begin with

Ace is a cocker - he'll have a cocker nose to find his way around.

Cockers cope with sight problems remarkably well. Sophie was only partially sighted from birth and (eventually) lost her sight pretty much completely. Because her world was never a primarily visual one her other senses and in particular her senses of touch and smell developed to compensate. For me, looking after her was a rare privilege because she showed me that the world has dimensions which I am 'blind' to. No one should be put off offering a home to this little fellow. For the right owner this is a chance of a glimpse into other worlds!

Yes we've had cocker pups like this before in the rescue who were all rehomed successfully with another resident dog - I always say though as long as you treat them as cockers 1st and foremost and don't over mollycoddle them they can do really well (in their heads they know they're cockers)

My beautiful Libby, that we got from lizzie's barn 4 years ago, was blind & no one really knew until we pointed it out to them she loved life, her food, her walks & her cuddles. We sadly lost her liver failure in may. the vet said she was 13/14 not the 9 year old we thought she was, but she had 4 happy years with us after coming out of a puppy hell farm. Told her she was just having some teeth out & she was wagging her little tail as the vet put her to sleep bless her, do miss her but we do have another cocker 1 year old called Holly so we are not lonely any more. Would love this little boy but is Holly to young for him to come to us? Tricia

Yes the best way really to express interest is to apply for him - its an online form and the trustees and foster carer will then look at it once they receive it

Can't believe this little chap is still waiting. I've fostered blind/partially sighted cockers and they used their noses to do all the normal cocker things.  Hope Ace's new forever home will find him soon. :-*

Just to say the distance to meet the dog might be a drive, but Four Paws will re home a distance away, and do the home checks etc.  Spoke with someone a while ago and advised me of this.
Cocker kisses and cuddles just make my day!

You are always with me darlings Jaypup and my precious Oliver you are so missed

Absolutely gorgeous.  Just looking at Lola too (must be his sister as she is also blind) she is a stunner too.  She's just gone to a new home.

Hard to understand why he's still waiting.  Much older cockers who've lost their sight in their later years adapt well.  Maybe people think he could never be let off lead. Once recall has been established, in safe areas that he'd got used to, he'd be fine.  Really hope Ace finds his forever home soon.
