Heavy bleeding during season
« on: October 19, 2014, 12:42:27 PM »
Hi,

My 12 year old has just come into season, she's on day 3 and her season just doesn't seem normal, she's bleeding everywhere and weeing blood. She seems happy in herself and eating normally but should I see if she gets any better in the next few days or take her to the vets?

Thank you

This is possibly due to her age, I would take a photo of the amount of blood that she is losing and pop her to the vets.

Definitely a visit to the vets, if only to put your mind at rest.

Just a quick update on Flossy.

Took her to the vets on Thursday as she continued to bleed quite heavily, she  were diagnosed with Pyometra and when they did some bloods, found she had pancreatitis  :( I were so worried about her when they took her in for surgery, at 7pm on Thursday night, received a call from the vet saying Flossy had just woke up and she had eaten her food and she had a happy wagging tail much to the vets surprise, shes now on antibiotics and being very spoilt. I am so pleased  :luv:

So pleased for you that Flossy is recovering well.  That must have been very worrying for you.

Glad you got her to the vets so quickly, hope she continues to recover well.  Very frightening for you.
