Hi Stanley is now 6 months and I am thinking of getting him neutered in the next couple of weeks because I have a 15 month little girl who has had to wait to be spayed she will be spayed after her next season but I don't want her to get caught do you think he is too young

It depends on how developed he is, have your vet check him out.

I dont have your circumstances but honestly I wouldnt, we werent sure if we were going to have ours neutered but did at 3 years old.

I in future would wait till my dog was about 18months to make sure he had matured and was fully grown first.

Could you not have someone take the puppy  or the girl while she is in season.

Some vets recommend castration at 6 months, in the same way that some also recommend spaying then, even if a bitch hasn't had her first season. But many vets advise to wait until later, until all the growth plates have closed and the dog/bitch is more mature.

There is evidence that early neutering before the growth plates have closed can lead to uneven growth of the dog/bitch, making it more prone to joint problems. Early neutering can also lead to the dog remaining in a puppy like state mentally for the rest of it's life. Hormones contribute towards mental as well as physical maturity.
