No good at guarding!
« on: January 17, 2016, 07:35:03 AM »
Our son decided to pay us an unexpected  visit at 5.30 this morning (couldn't get home after a party!) let himself in and rather noisily went straight up to bed. Not even a little woof was heard from behind the kitchen door!
Whenever we have to go out without him, my hubby always says "Humphrey, stay and guard the house!"  - Fine chance! If we ever get burglers, the only thing they'll probably have to leave behind is the kong!!!!! :005: :005: :005:

I don't think cockers are known for being guard dogs! I once asked a friend to pop round to feed the dogs while I was out. Honey wet herself and Pip doesn't bark!!!  :shades:
Rosie, rest in peace my beautiful little girl, you will be in my heart forever. 2/2/12-24/10/12

If intruders ever entered  my house carrying a gun and wearing Barbour Jackets they would get a warm welcome from all the dogs I have ever owned

Chilli is an excellent guard dog, he once pinned an intruder in the garden until the police arrived. He's normally very soft with everyone but I think they can be guard dogs when they know they have to.

O'h good heavens! In a case like that, then I think I'd prefer he didn't  play the hero! Maybe it was not such a bad idea cowering behind the kitchen door after all! Clever Humphrey! ;)

Of course they are guard dogs. My late father used to put all the dog food for my first cocker through the business as "guard dog". I refuse to believe that my dear old Dad would ever mislead the revenue!

Um  Ollie must be the exception, he goes mad if anyone comes near me - but as we always say its depends on the cut of them, sometimes he never bothers other times barking his head off.
As one chap said to me, no one would creep up on you with that dog :005:
Think he see himself as my protector if OH is not with us.....never bothers if his master is about :luv:

Julie
Cocker kisses and cuddles just make my day!

You are always with me darlings Jaypup and my precious Oliver you are so missed

Three times a week the milkman delivers at 4-30am.
This results in a full out demonstation of how to bark, LOUDLY.

Would he bite?
Only if they tried to groom his feet.

If Leo hears something outside in the garden, he runs to me, jumps on my lap and growls softly.  I think he thinks he's a guard dog, it's usually me that goes and investigates, but it's the thought that counts.
