A bit more Poppy
« on: April 18, 2016, 11:35:43 AM »
Well we are still plodding on.  Pops has been to the Rowe Eye clinic in Bristol for her check up and they were delighted with her.  She has to return in 6 months.   At home she is a sweetie, I am most certainly hers, much to Maggies disgust, I seem to spend all my time cuddling spaniels so there is no jealousy! Oh its a hard life. :005:   We are getting there with the house training.  Its the noises outside that don't help.   So I have persuaded her to use puppy training mats, which does make life easier.  She will rush out at about 6 am do a puddle and rush in again, still its a start.  Her next rush is about 11.pm and because its dark and silent she spends some time sniffing and enjoying herself.
When I took her to Bristol, she slept all the way in the car, attached by her safety harness to the seat belt.  Good as gold during her visit, not I suspect because she wanted to be good, but her rotten life has taught her to accept everything that was coming her way, just to survive.   She still won't sleep in a bed, just on the carpet.  Except for first thing in the morning, when she sneaks silently onto my bed, this morning she had her head on my pillow with her back down mine.  She steals my socks. carries them into "her office" and uses them as comfort blankets, only sleeping when she has her nose on them (brave girl)
Last night my daughter called in for supper. So we just ignored Pop who eventually could stand it no longer, and crept in to watch us eating from behind a chair. She is such a happy girl, I am hoping that her need to bounce will one day overcome some of her fear.
There is nothing so joyful as a happy dog

Keep plodding Poppy, I think you are doing great. These wee dogs have a lot to take in and it is great that Poppy can do this at her own pace. When we had Lara she was very partial to storing her treasure in her bed on the couch! Eventually it became the go to spot for a missing shoe, remote control etc. So kind of handy really  :005:  Poppy sounds happy, settled and that is down to your care, so enjoy the progress you have made together and keep on cuddling!
