So what's the most useful command you've taught your cocker? For me it's having taught Penny to wee on command. So here on the other side of the world it's freezing tonight, with rain beating down outside. There's no way any of us want to go out. But all I need to say is "outside" and Penny has rushed out, then" do a wee" and she has screeched to a stop on the nearest patch of grass, crouched down in the rain, emptied her bladder, done a poo and then rushed back in. Job done! Back to a warm fire for the rest of the night for both of us!
My brother even managed to teach his dog to only use one small section of his backyard. It meant he didn't have to wander around looking everywhere for dog poo. I'm afraid Penny is not as good as that. But even so, to all new cocker owners, I really recommend the ' do a wee!) command.
