Nervous Mummy to be!!
« on: June 11, 2016, 09:17:10 PM »
This message probably seems ridiculous but thought I would ask for your thoughts. Our darling black girl went to Rainbow Bridge on 28th February and having said I could never go through the heartache again, we are about to collect our new golden girl on Thursday. I am so excited, but very nervous too - I am worried that I won't be able to love her like our wonderful Ebony.  Just wondered what other cocker lovers experience have been? Thanks so much. X

I still cry for my "soul mate" who went to the bridge over 20 years ago. I never thought  I would love a dog like that again.
I have had since him 4 more dogs and loved them all.

If the great dog god came to me and said " I  will send your much loved Theakston back to you if you give up your last 4 " I would have to decline. You love them all but each in a different way. :luv:

Well sadly we have all been there and your thoughts while very real at present will soon fade into non existence when your new bundle arrives.

They are all there own little individuals and bring new ways that tug at your heart.

I don't think your new puppy will replace Ebony..instead it will be a new chapter with a new little dog to put the love into your lives, just enjoy :luv:

I am very sorry for your loss, it is such a difficult thing to deal with.  You will love Ebony just as you always have, and your new family member will have a separate spot in your heart.  Don't worry, just enjoy your new puppy.

When my first cocker Jordan died I was inconsolable.  About 4 months later we had Rupert - just after that my mum was diagnosed with cancer and my dad who was very disabled from a stroke became my responsibility.  The year that Rupert was a puppy was very difficult.  However Rupert is 9 now and an absolute star who I would not be without.  In February of this year we had Bertie who is so much fun now we have the time for him.

I love both Rupert and Bertie but Jordan still has a bit of my heart.
I am sure that you will find the new arrival soon makes her own place in your heart.
Good Luck

I'm sorry you've been through such a terrible loss. There's nothing quite like it for pure pain. But I'm sure you'll love the new puppy, not in the same way because each dog is an individual and draws something special from us. So it'll be a new, different love- but still good.

I can only echo previous comments.

Don't worry you will love your new puppy, they do a great job at mending broken hearts  :luv:

Your heart has so much cocker shaped space. Rosie and Ebony are my 8th and 9th Cockers and I have loved them all equally and if I get others, I will love them as much.

Your Ebony will always be in your heart, and I'm sure she won't mind sharing that space  :luv:

You never stop missing the past playmates, but the new one will soon be a big part of your life and another chapter starts.
