Riley,s habits on certain walks

At home Riley will go on any walk , he will walk anywhere absolutely no problem, no issues,

However just back from my parents after the weekend and this has been the case several times visiting them.
He is usually confined to street walks up at their house.
He will go out fine but stop and wont move and the only way he will be happy to go is back to their house., We visited at the weekend, I took him and we went round the block, he did his toileting fine, then I thought I would take a detour and extend our walk nope he wont budge, tried the other way, he wont budge, I then move as if to go back home and yes thats fine, he will go there and as soon as he sees their house he will cross the drive and straight back to their front door.

He did it with both my mum on the walks and me, however not with hubby .
My mum looks after him when we go on holiday and I'm wondering if it something with this, or does he just feel that these walks are boring and he would rather be home at their house.
As I say its not a problem just quite strange as here at home he has never done anything like it.
Any ideas ?

I have a similar issue with Scoobie. Scoobie loves his walks and the minute you pick up the lead he gets excited. We always go in the car to his walks except one route where I take him sort of round the block and along the edge of s golf course. He isn't allowed off lead on this walk and is kept on a short lead. He knows as soon as we get to the end of the drive where we are going and he too often will just sit and refuse to move. Sometimes we get a bit further and he will do his business but we never make it round any more! He will just plonk his bum on the floor until I turn around!
We have worked out that he is just doesn't like this route. He hates being on the lead and I don't think all the smells are half as interesting!
Could this be the same for Riley?

Aren't they strange haha,
Yes I have thought that maybe he just is bored and thinks I know I'm only going a boring walk so I would rather be lazy at home, i.e. my parents house.
Ive just had him out there a street walk at home and he is fine, he moves fine and doesnt do the "wont budge"

How old is scoobie ? Riley is 4.

Jinley wont walk past our local pub  she gets as far as the end of the frontage and just stops until she (we) can get a drink (or two).  Funny creatures arent they?

Are you sure that you haven't trained Jinley to stop at the pub?

Just a thought - my sister isn't very fond of cats and has one of those alarms that emit a noise to krep them out of the garden. I have a similar thing installed in my car to (try to) stop the polecats chewing all my electrics, - we can't hear them but animals can and I imagine they're not very pleasant.There are all sorts of things these days that send out high frequency noises aswell as the usual load "town" noises. Also smells, can be irritating. Humphrey's used to mainly country walks and is really hard work in the town, - I always take loads of treats and just carry on with encourage, praise and reward and hope that as he gets older he'll calm down and get used to it. ...
