Food barking!! Advice needed please

Sorry I really didn't know where to post this as Maisie is 16 weeks old today (puppy) and has started incessant barking (behaviour) because of food (feeding) 

I swopped her over to raw food two weeks ago and she absolutely loves it, I mean reeaally loves it.  So much so that as soon as I get near a work surface to prepare any food, even a cup of tea  she starts a high pitched bark that just won't stop.  I know it's only excitement as she thinks she's getting some grub but I want to nip in the bud before it's a problem.....if it isn't already.

I've tried the folding arms and turning away until she is quiet, but that just turns into a Mexican stand off as she just barks even more frantically.

Apart from this she is a little darling. Has anybody got any advice about what I can try to stop this?

Google the 'extinction bark'. Basically it gets worse before it gets better and you have to persist with ignoring it. She'll keep escalating the bark until she realises she's not getting anything and then it should gradually diminish.

I accidentally solved this with Henry. I was putting out his food when I realised I'd left the baby gate open. I dashed off with his food in my hand. He was so shocked he stopped barking. I rushed back and gave it too him before he barked again. The next day when he started barking I set the fork down and turned away. After the previous day's experience, that was enough to stop him barking. A few more days of just putting the fork down and the barking stopped. At the same time I reinforced a quiet sit while waiting. He still sits with one paw twitching while waiting for his food - he's nearly one!

Thanks for that. I've googled it and it makes a lot of sense    It's reassuring to know I was on the right lines, I just need to see it through....and earplugs!!

I had the same with Reese, he was just so excited about meal times!  >: My dog trainer who also has cockers told me what to do, which is what London girl has said already. To begin with I didn't think it was going to work and it was taking 10 - 15 mins to get his meals,  stopping each time he barked....but dinner times are now very peaceful.

Ok I started it half an hour ago as I had to chop up some veggies for our tea. I completely ignored her, even when she was trying to crawl up my leg! After about ten minutes she wandered outside in disgust, it wasn't for long as she soon came back in but at least it's a start.

Yep same here, if any of them start barking/creating I come out the kitchen, switch the telly on and sit down. With three of them I couldn't stand it if they all barked/whined or whatever, so if one does it - they all have to wait. I also make them wait between putting the food down and letting them eat, only seconds but it does make a difference.

I am having this problem with Louis my sons dog he nearly thirteen hes always followed me and food whenever I go in kitchen but he just barks and barksjust like a young child who  just wants. just walk out now this help  but barks againHe never  this before hell nearly eatvanything he was so fussy and hes going deaf
