Humphrey does his own singing and has developed quite a repetoire over the years ranging from the little squeak when he decides its time for us to get up, to a mini „I‘m not really barking“ bark when he wants his tea, and then there’s his opera diva impersonation in the car (which usually abates once he knows we‘re not going anywhere exciting, I swear he does recognize the routes).
I never really worked out whether his car whining was excitement or protest but it did get better once we moved him to the back seat instead of in a box in boot, he still grumbles a lot but I‘ve found ignoring him and turning up the radio usually produces a silent sulk after about 5 minutes. Return journey are curiously never a problem….

Sorry not to be able to offer any concrete advice, but its just one aspect of cockership that still baffles me after 10 years!
