Problems posting
« on: October 22, 2006, 10:30:51 AM »
I am having real problems replying to /posting threads this week .
I keep on receiving a message saying that my "session has timed out" but i even get this message when i've been less than a minute typing my reply so it's not that i am taking too long to reply. So when i get this message i copy the message i have typed, come out and go back in and paste it and try to post it again. I then get a message saying it has been less than 20 seconds since my last post  so again i come out leave it for a bit then go back in and paste my message. However then i get a message saying i have already submitted this message!!!!. SO then i have to compleyely shut COL down , re enter the site and start again!.
Why is it suddenly doing this to me

 >:D >:D >:D Second attempt to try and post this message!!!!

Edited to add:- I have just tried to reply to Emily on the x factor thread and it won't let me. All of the above happened but it keeps telling me i have already submitted the post. I've come out and gone back in three times now but still it won't let me  :'( :'(

Are you trying to get rid of me

Not sure what the problem is Jan :-\ Have you tried clearing your internet cache and your COL cookie just in case you have a corrupted cookie? If it's just you having this problem, it does suggest there may be something wrong your end, unless loads of other people are seeing the same thing and not saying?

Are you using Internet Explorer or Firefox? If you're using IE, log out of COL then click on TOOLS then INTERNET OPTIONS - GENERAL. Then go down the dialogue box to the Temporary Internet file section and click on DELETE COOKIES. When that's done, click on DELETE FILES. This will clear all your temporary internet files and all your cookies including your COL cookie. When you log in to COL again, it will force a new cookie to be created which with a bit of luck will sort your problem out. If it doesn't work, it's back to the drawing board :D

Jan, when you log into COL, do you slelct "forever" from the dropdown next to the username/password boxes? I had problems timing out until I selected this  ;)

Hi Rachel,

I don't actually ever "log out" as such i just shut the COL web site down, so the next time i visit i never need to log in - If that makes sense    I've just actually "logged out" and logged back in and mine defualts to the forever option. Perhaps I should try actually logging out and in for a while and see if that helps.

Thanks  :D

Ah that might be the problem Jan. It's a good idea to log out manually when you're not going to be online for a while (eg overnight etc). I seem to remember there was a problem a while ago with database errors which was down to some members staying logged on all the time so it could be contributing to your probs too.
