Well, we've been up since, erm, 5.30 real time but only cos Bella woke up naturally at what she thought was 6.30. Zorro slept in the bedroom with us with his crate in the puppy pen. He did create to be held prisoner in such an evil way (not realising that we KNOW he has spent lots of time in a puppy playpen

) and set up crowing and howling and rattling the bars of his cage but it didn't last long, I did keep the light on and sat up reading so he could see me, he was soon out like a light (wedged between a fluffy hot water bottle and his teddy

) and there wasn't a peep from him until we got up with Bella. In fact he was so quiet I was starting to worry!

It remains to be seen how he'll be tonight as I know the first night can be very quiet anyway, but hopefully he'll feel a bit more settled by then.
Bella woke up like a bear with a sore head, didn't want to play with us, grumbled away at Zorro, who was full of beans legging it up and down the length of the house making his funny little noises to himself. Anyway I fed him about 6.30 while Bella had a bit of a lie in upstairs, and then we all came back to bed and Zorro was put back in the pen. He set up crowing in between taking munches of a carrot

, he is a perfect little cocker royale, he has the royal personage thing down to a fine art! He did settle after 5 mins or so and just amused himself with his new toys.
I took Bella up to Greenwich park at 7.30

to go squirrelling, where she was grumpy with every single dog she met including a 7 month old cocker she normally likes to play with, so obviously feeling very much like her nose is out of joint. Anyway I did lots of squirrelling with her and since we've come back home she's been much calmer, following Zorro around to see what he's up to, and also REALLY making sure she gets lots of cuddles from us (which she is, of course). She's being very good with Zorro really, letting him steal her hide bone, sleep on her bed (although it's a manky old one, the prized Kudos bed is in the cupboard for now) and she even let him give her a brief kiss earlier

. She's needing lots and lots of reassurance that we still love her to bits but that's not hard to give as she's such a lovely girl.
They actually had their first game of tug in the garden about an hour ago with a long piece of dried bambooey stuff which Zorro found. Bella looked very bemused when Zorro grabbed the end of it and started yanking and growling but she held on and wagged her tail. I can't wait for them to start playing properly, I don't think it'll be long...
Anyway a couple of pics from this morning - I've got a film of the game of tug here:

"What's next mum?"
