Hi all, this is my first post, I am looking for a bit of advice, or shared experience...
Our puppy has been out in our back garden, and transported in a crate in the car to visit 2 other houses a few times, and the vet once. We have started introducing him to his collar, and will the lead, next.
I would like to start preparing him for the outside world, especially as we live near a bypass with fast traffic, and I have noticed that when he hears a motorbike go past, from inside, he pricks up his ears and snifffs towards the window.
I have read that some people carry their dogs outside, and I would like to do this, perhaps carry him out along the route we'll take him for his first walk along the street.
-My concern is that he wriggles A LOT.
-Any methods for keeping him still in my arms, or indeed, my lap?
First visit to the vets I couldn't keep him still, and although he 'sits' when on the floor, it wasn't happening on the vets table, too much to explore. The vet said I would need to practice holding him still… he is very good at wriggling away, or even reaching down to your fingers or round to your wrist and snapping at them to get free. I pick him up the way the breeder showed me, so I know it’s not pain he feels; he wants to be free. In the car, he wants to be out of his travel crate and exploring, climbing up me to chew the hair on my head, wriggling to get on the floor or into the boot..
i can't imagine him sitting on my lap on a bus.
I worry that he would wriggle out on my arms and onto the outside floor, but i also worry that he will not be prepared if we don't go out.
Would really appreciate anyone's experience with this, very much x
