Burns, JWB or Arden Grange

Help!

I've narrowed down which food I want to introduce into Holly's diet but cannot pick between the above 3. Please give me your opinions and fors and against. Want to try and get her off Purina in case it is what is causing her hyperactiveness although I just think its general puppyness! :005:

Well in our case, we've tried all 3 & Max (now 19mths) LOVES Arden Grange - there are 3 adult flavours & he likes it if we mix all 3 together & then top it off with a sprinkling of something tasty like a bit of mince or chicken or sausage or tuna - gobbles it down happily!! It's the ONLY food he's ever consistently eaten & is thriving & healthy & the correct weight etc - he was SUCH a fussy puppy - we had a real battle for ages with him over food but fingers crossed he's settled on AG for the past 8mths or so - thank god!! We order via their website & it's delivered within a day or 2 & is quite reasonably priced if you work out the daily amount they should have. They do treats & free samples too!

I think it's totally a hit & miss thing with each individual dog though, cos loads of them love JWB & Burns too!!

barkley has always had jwb. he wasn't too keen on the puppy variety but seems to really quite like the junior variety. he'll happily chase a treat ball full of it around the room. however, on its own it doesn't always seem to agree with his digestive system. so we are now trying something different with his two meals a day- each is now half jwb and half a pack of nature's diet, all mixed up. he loves it and happily munches both down with relish- and his 'deposits' are a lot firmer and smaller as a result. :)

I agree that it's down to the individual puppy, and in our case it's been trial and error.
We started off with JWB which Dodge liked but it gave him evil wind ph34r which became unbearable!
Then on to Burns which he liked to start off with but is now completely bored by. Added to that he has a colitis problem and is too thin at the moment, so after reading various threads on this, we are now changing to Arden Grange.
I think all of these are considered good though, so take your pick!

Up to you - I have tried all 3 and had no problems with any.  It is really down to personal/doggy preference and which is most easily available.  I ended up using Arden Grange partly because they sell it in Waitrose.  They are all excellent products and I think all about as good as each other  ;)

Ruby is on Arden Grange.

She's still on Puppy Junior and seems to like it!

She's doing very well, is active and has a lovely shiny coat. It must be doing the trick!  :luv:  :luv:

Thanks everyone!

Theres just so many to0 choose from. I don't know that I'm doing the right thing in the first place as she absolutely wolfs down the Purina Beta she is on at the mo, I've just not heard many good things about it and want her to have the best of health possible. :D

I haven't used JWB as I don't like Pedigree's ethics but Alfie had Burns when he was a pup but he didn't like it, it seemed quite bland and he wasn't interested so I tried him on Arden Grange and there was a huge difference, he wolfed it down so it's definitely the one I would recommend.

He's now on a raw barf diet but I still use AG when he goes to the dog sitter as they won't handle raw meat  ;)

Another Arden Grange lover here!  Ben loves the chicken and rice one but turns his nose up at the salmon one  ::)

I've also fed him JWB if I've forgotten to order the AG with no tummy upsets  ;)

I've just switched from Hills Science Plan to Burns which Poppy loves!

We get the chicken and rice but they come in lots of different flavours and also sell tasty treats! :blink: We order it off the internet and delivery is free!

I have the same dilema.

Billy is currently on burns but appears hungry, so i've swapped him to JWB but was considering changing to AG as I too don't like the fact JWB are owned by pedigree.

However the behaviourist we saw last week said out of the three foods burns is in a league of his own and is much more superior. The food content of JWB has sneekily changed since it was taken over by pedigree and now contains quiet a few additives. She also said AG is going the same way and the kind of things used in AG has recently changed and isn't the food it used to be. So on her advice I've stuck with burns but bulk it up with rice and pasta.

My trainer was also a great fan of Burns and recommended it very highly.  Unfortunately Ben wasn't that keen to eat it and was a bit skinny (you could see his ribs).  He loves Arden Grange and it has no nasties .................................... yet? 

What have they changed?  Should I be worried?  I'm really carefull not to feed additives if I can help it and want to feed the best dry food so long as Ben likes it.

I think she said preservatives have changed and meat quality but I may be wrong. I am lucky with Billy in that he will eat anything otherwise I'd be feeding him the food he liked  - within reason. If Ben is ok on AG then I'd leave him on it.

I'm in the process of converting Dylan from home cooked to Arden Grange. Had to order from website as couldnt find local supplier (if anyone knows supplier in Dundee area-much appreciated) I'm too worried I'm not giving him all nutrients he needs in home cooked, Arden Grange has it all, no additives and also has probiotics. Mixed with a little water and some chicken - he wolfed this down today.(even after being quite ill yesterday)

Other than online ordering (which arrives within a couple of days) Waitrose stock the smaller bags.  I've not found anywhere else that sells it  ;)  It does work out good value espescially if you order a large bag  ;)
