Is my puppy lazy?
« on: January 27, 2007, 10:01:24 PM »
Hi all - me again ph34r getting addicted now!

Anyway, we have an 11 week old puppy who is fairly lazy! She naps most of the day which is very usual for her age - but she sleeps constantly from 7pm-7am , (Minus the odd toilet break).  she is not interested in anything form 7pm on, she's out cold!  ....am I in for a chilled out girl or is that just wishfull thinking?

Blimey, you are lucky!!  ;)  Puppies do sleep a lot though so as long as she is lively enough when she is awake I would just be grateful to have a laid back pup!  :D  She is still very young though so I would say it is too early to tell what she will be like as an adult.

Well I'm keeping my fingers crossed  She is a busy little bee during the day - very nosy cheeky little thing, but I think my house goes quiet from 7pm on when the kids are having baths etc, she is just flopped out in the middle of the living room floor...doesn't even come to investigate where I've gone. (Maybe It's the under floor heating making her dozy) :005: It is like a sauna in this house!

I wouldn't worry Claire. Barney was just the same. In fact I'd never known a pup that slept soooo much.  He slept most of the day for weeks. He wake up for half an hour of activity and then sleep for another three hours!  :005: I thought all my Christmases had come at once! Enjoy!

Jade was exactly the same and whereas now at 9 months, she doesn't sleep as much, she is still the most chilled girl I know, if she were anymore laid back, she'd be upside down.   :005:  Enjoy!!

Milo was the same, and still is now (he's 20 months).  From about 8pm he's crashed out until OH gets up to take him for a walk at about 6.45 am on weekdays.  (Milo does get taken round the block before bed, about 10pm though).  At weekends, he'll sleep most of the evening, go out last thing for a pee, and will happily lie in until 9am.     I agree, make the most of it!

Hiya Claire

Wouldn't worry at all about this- Misty is much the same, she's out like a light from about 8pm until 7ish - it's a relief cause Scooby as a pup was constantly on the go  :005:

Have to say, Misty if much more chilled/laid back than Scooby was so you have probably got a chilled out girl I'd say  ;)

Same here with Bailey...slept a lot as a pup.  Even now at 2 years old, he will start sleeping around 8pm and wake up around 8am on the weekdays and anywhere from 10am to noon on the weekends depending on our schedules!  Even if we haven't done much during the day, he is still tired by 8pm.
