I totally agree with you that normally it woud be worth looking hard at diet, Cindere, but I think in Millie and Cassie's case, the reason for the dragon's breath is pretty clear. Both are rescue dogs whose teeth and gums had been horribly neglected in their previous lives.

Consequently, both of them had to have loads of teeth out when they came into rescue (and bless MT and Fourpaws for doing it).

Poor little Millie (puppy-farmed) only has her front teeth and one molar each side.

In both dogs, the extractions have left lots of little creases, folds and dips in the gums for left over food and bacteria to have a party. I am really keen to make sure they never have to go through that again so I brush their remaining teeth every single night. But it simply means that the smell of rotting food is replaced by the smell of the toothpaste - and the enzymatic chicken-giblet one is simply revolting! So I am really keen to try anything better - and I think I'll give the new one a go, Catcmartin. Thanks very much for your advice and fingers crossed.
