Thanks you for all your kind words, it really does help. I'm sorry my post was so brief earlier on, I hope I didn't sound melodramatic. I'm feeling a bit better now and have got my sensible head back on.
We took her this morning because she really wasn't showing any signs of improvement.
The vet had a really good feel of her abdomen and she still couldn't detect any real problem although her intestine was gurgly with fluid, her temperature was normal.
My main concern was I couldn't get her to eat and you could see she was losing weight. Trying to get the honey down her was a battle and I felt so mean.
It's been an emotional rollercoaster this afternoon and I couldn't wait to hear from the vet any longer so I rang her around 6pm.
She is slightly brighter, has been taking small drinks of water and hasn't vomited, she's still sleeping a lot but that's not a bad thing.
She said she will ring me later tonight before she goes off duty, and I will hear from them again first thing in the morning.
In the meantime I think we've found what the cause is. I hadn't rung her breeders today as I knew they were at the Cocker Club show and I didn't want to spoil their day, there's nothing they could've done, but I did speak to them as they were driving home and it seems that at the workplace of one of them a number of people have been of work with sickness and diarrhoea and the reason/source seems to be a new water cooler they've had fitted and that it is a
Giardia infection!
I had an upset tum on Friday!!
The drip that Florence is on has got metronizadole going through it, which treats Giardia. So what I first thought was making her more ill turns out to be the right thing to treat her with.
Will keep you posted as and when.
Edited to add that lack of appetite is also a symptom of Giardia.
