Favourite words!

How clever our girls and boys are!Me and OH were telling friends of the words that Cassie and Maisie understand and even phrases~
Apart from walkies amongst their favourites are Daddy's here /Mummys here

I could go on and on and on but its Walkies time they are wagging their tails waiting and looking up at their leads .They are amazing

My 3 know something similar to that - when at my Mum's I whisper to them "Where's Nanna ?" and they all go racing off at top speed to find her - it's not long before I can hear my Mum squealing and shrieking in the distance as she dispappears under the tongues and paws of a Cocker piley-on. "You and those dogs will be the death of me" she says - but I know she loves it really.

Mine can recognise quite a few things. Something that amazes me the most though which isn't a word is that no matter what time my OH comes in from work and this varies from day to day week to week, Milo seems to know 5 minutes before he is coming and he sits at the door OH walks up from the station, I often tell him he must walk like an elephant for Milo to hear him coming!! Sorry thats slightly OT but kind of not!

Jarvis' fave game is being a "postman" which involves sticking something in his mouth and saying "take it to _____" then him racing off to said person and throwing whatever it is at their feet. So yeah, that's his favorite phrase.

Fave word is sit, because sit = treat.

Murphy knows a few words, mainly food related e.g dinner and treat.

He does this too but is too lazy to sit and wait and prefers to hang of the edge of the sofa.

Like Colins lot, Kali knows 'Where's Grandma?'  and also 'Daddy's here'.  Loads of others but they are the two that have her going loony

poppy is like the others she knows when i say daddy is here or go find him, she goes mental when i say nana and grandad she loves my mum and dad cos they are as daft as her

Ours know the phrase "be good girls till mummy gets back", they know it means get a biscuit then we won't be back for a while, Sammy who's a boy reacts quickest  .

Other than actual training commands which they know a lot of mine know quite a few funny things. When I say 'shhhh' to Alfie he'll sit down in front of me and bark    He loves it, he sits wagging his tail looking all pleased with himself. Tilly will bark and run over to look out the window if I say 'wassat?' or 'who's at the door?'. They all know that if they're sleeping on my bed when I say 'right then!' in the morning it's time to get up so they jump down and start stretching and yawning and Tilly knows the words 'bath' and 'hoover' and will go and curl up on her chair and refuse to budge if I say them, she's not a fan of either

Lady's favourite words/phrases are:

"Do you want to go in the car?"

"Do you want to go and see Nanny & Poppy?"

"Are you hungry?"

"Dinner time"

"Go find the pussy cat!"

"Where's your tennis ball?"

"Sit"

"Stay"

"Do you want to go outside?"

"Bed time"

"Where's your lead?"

Now that the summer weather is on it's way, I'll be able to ask her one of her favourite summer time questions:

"Do you want to go swimming?" - She goes crazy with excitement!!

"Squirrel"!!!!  That was the first word Jerry learned after we moved from Germany to the US, into a house and yard with many of the aforementioned.  Then came "cookie" (after being spoilt by OH's mum) and, of course, "walk", or "are you ready??!!" (before we do our evening howling routine).

Then a couple of sentences in German (yes, Jerry is bi-lingual    ), like "wo ist das Herrchen?" (where is OH?) or "schau mal wer da ist" (look who's there), "willst Du mal raus?" (you want to go outside?). Most important word is, of course,  "Essen" (Food  )

The rest is the usual training words, most of which he knows in both languages  . (they are probably not his favorite, though  )

It's amazing the repertoire of words that Cockers have and how knowing they are.  It's also obvious that members spend time with their pets and share experiences with them.

I got Charley just after I took very early retirement, and consequently we are very rarely separated.  He knows and understands a host of words and expressions, far more than my previous two Cockers, and I attribute this to him being a constant companion. Although both of my other Cockers came to work with me, and were never left home alone, they were often left in my office or car and were not always at my side.

Charley has dry eye and consequently requires frequent eye medication during the day.  I only have to say, "Let Daddy see those eyes," and he comes into the kitchen and jumps on a chair so that I can administer his ointments.  He senses when we are going out, and runs around barking excitedly.  You'd think he'd never been out in his life.

Trev was once in the boot of the car and I was just about to close it when I realised there was a box of 'stuff' in there too. So I was muttering away to myself 'oh blurry hell, what a pain so can't be bothered to go back and take that to the house, you're probably going to have to go on the front seat mate otherwise you'll get squashed when I go around a corner just don't get mud everywhere...' before I knew it, he cocked his head on one side, jumped out of the boot and trotted around to the passenger side and climbed in  I just stood there with my jaw on the floor... probably a fluke, but you never know!

Apart from the training words, etc, their absolute favourites are 'Are you hungry?', 'Whats this?', 'Biscuit', 'Walkies', and 'Ball'.
