2nd Vac - How Long?

Hi again,

Hope you don't mind another questiion.

Marlee goes for his 2nd Vac on 6th Dec. He'll be 10wks. Most vets say wait a week before talking them out. But my friend said she didn't wait and her Toller walked home from her vets. I've also read that other people haven't waited. So it seems some wait a week and some don't. Whats your view? I'm DYING to take him for his first little walk, hehe.

I think a week is the minimum. The first vet we saw said one week, whereas the second said two weeks, any sooner than a week is a bit risky.

It's actually a good idea to take Marlee out and about with you now, to help with his socilisation ie a trip to the post box etc.  Providing he isn't placed onto the floor he'll be fine.

it depends on the vaccine accordin to my vet but if ure vet says one week or 2 id stick to we did as the vet says there is parvo (if thts what u call it)goin round here now u have waited this long just hang on that extra wee bit the last thing u want is a poorly puppy i know u r desperate to get puppy out but trust me it will come round quick enough and in a few weeks in the rain and snow u will be sayin why was i in such a hurry lol

Jake had his 2nd at 10 weeks (just before he came home). The breeders told me two weeks, but when I phoned the vet he said that at 10 weeks, waiting a week would be enough.

I think it has to do with the area you're in, but from what my vet said it also sounded as if the age at which they had 2nd vac had a bearing too.

I'd do whatever your vet says, to be on the safe side.

Both vets we saw were at the same practice. It was the second vet who told us 2 weeks. When I mentioned that the previous vet had said one week he said it was purely down to the vets individual opinion & tthat there are lots of questions that if you ask to two different vets you'll often get two different answers
