Hi all,
I was hoping for some ideas pleased.
Since the Christmas break Barney has had trouble with his front right leg. When he has been lying down he seems almost stiff when we gets up and will hobble. After moving for a while he seems to walk perfectly normally, and still likes to run around etc. The other time we notice it is if we ask him to give "paw". He will lift his left paw very easily as normal, but when we ask for "other paw" he lifts it in a very laboured fashion and out to the side rather than straight forward as he does with his helathy leg. We have limited him to on lead walks in case he has pulled summit, and have explored between his pads but we can't find a specific point of pain. We haven't yet taken him to the vet as it is difficult to show what the problem is as 75% of the time he acts as normal. I am a little concerned that it is arthritis type symptoms - but would that appear in teh hips first generally?
Any advice? Any idea what it could be? Should we take him to the vet and risk looking like paranoid owners as he is likely to run around like a loon in the surgery??
Ta, Rach xxx
PS - for those of you who don't "know" us, Barney is only 2 and a half years old.
