Scoobie has stolen a whole block of butter
« on: January 10, 2008, 06:11:37 PM »
Well my little Monkey boy has managed to steal a block of butter of the side this afternoon.
I was unloading the shopping when the phone rang so i went to answer it and by the time i came back he had eaten all the butter and was starting to eat the wrapper!
The thing is though, he has now got diarrhea (can't spell) and has been drinking alot of water.
Apart from this he seems to be ok.
Do you think he will be alright? Or should i take him to the vets?

He'll probably be fine after the diarrhea passes. He's certainly "greased the skids" well  :005:

If it was salted butter that might account for the water drinking, but you can certainly ring the vet if you feel uncomfortable.

That would be my guess too.

They are such greedy s*ds aren't they? Buddy dives at everything that looks even remotely edible when we are out on the road walks. Half a Twix today ph34r

Oh dear Letichia ..what would you do with them eh  :005:

Had a quick look on the net and it says that it may make them sick otherwise should be ok...maybe a quick call to the vet just to check might be safest  ;)

Hope poor ..if naughty Scoobs will be ok x

I'd phone the vet - too much fat can cause pancreatitis, which isn't nice. I'm sure he'll be fine but the vet may want to ask a few questions.

Ruby did this once --- just as I was looking for the pack of butter I knew I'd put somewhere she was sick and it was rancid. She puked up a few more times and felt sorry for herself but was fine the next day.

Herbie has done this sort of thing quite a bit and things don't touch the sides with him - he ate a whole box of baby formula milk not so long ago ph34r.  Mikey on the other hand is less likely to do that as he's perfect  :005:, but if he did I know he would be suffering afterwards.
