I sprinkled it all over the kitchen floor (mad idea I know) but she ate the lot as thought it was a game so I know now its not the actual food

I often feed my dogs like this - it makes them work for it  :005:  In the drier weather, I throw it over the lawn and they have to use their nose to seek out their grub, and I also put their food in treat balls, too  :D

When Molo was young and I was using a lot of training rewards, I stopped feeding him meals completely,  I measured out his daily allowance of kibble and used it throughout the day for rewards, keeping the cheese and sausage as high value at training classes and "new" training  ;)

Seems I'm going to have to do the same, she does get a lot of treats/rewards as she is very food orientated with her training and picks things up quickly when using food so will use just the Arden Grange for treats at home and then her cheese/hot dogs at training classes and when we are out off lead.   The rest of it will have to go on the floor if she won't eat out of the bowl - she couldn't eat it fast enough when on the floor - wish I'd tried that a few weeks ago instead of worrying that she wasn't eating the correct diet.  :D

My friends puppy doesn't like eating out of the bowl either - its almost like she's scared of it or something.  She'll pick a few bits out, throw them on the floor herself, then merrily make her way through them - on the floor!  Funny thing!!  :005:

As you may have seen from another thread we've been having feeding problems all year.  We did find that mixing wet food in helped a lot when she was younger - (just a spoon or 2 and really mix it up so there are no 'chunks' of wet food).  Even so - I don't think Sydney has a massive apetit...I think I just worry too much!  :luv:

There's lots of reassurance from experts on this site though to help us novices along!

what kind of bowl does she have?  I know some dogs don't like the stainless steel ones as they can see 'shadows' in the bowl (their own reflections  ::) )

How big is her bowl?

This may not be relevant but with cats if the bowl is too small, there whickers touch the sides they dont like it and throw the food out and eat off the floor

 Jarvis freaked out and refused to eat from his bowl for days the first time he saw it empty. ::) :005:

Indie has plastic bowls, the same for food as water and she drinks her water.   She still isn't eating out of the bowl, I'm having to either feed her by hand or scatter the food over the floor, hopefully she'll just grow out of it - my original post was that I thought it was the food but it seems thats not the case - its the bowl, however if my cat has his food down which is the same sort of bowl, she'll rush to that bowl and try to steal his food.   I just can't work out whats going through her head

How strange, shes got a Chow Bella bowl on order which will come some time soon so hopefully she'll eat out of that - otherwise she'll have wasted my money  :005:
