Summer's not well - now at vets
« on: March 16, 2008, 04:41:02 PM »
I'm just after a bit of advice really, Summer has been sick quite a few times today, everytime I let her outside I have trouble getting her back in because she won't stop eating the grass. I know dogs are often sick but what concerns me is that she can't settle. She keeps pacing around and when she does lay down she keeps changing position and can't seem to get comfortable. Is this because she feels sick or could she be in pain. Do you think its OK to leave it until tomorrow to see the vet?

Oh wend so sorry to hear this, poor Summer, I don't know what to suggest.  I'm sure someone will be along to offer advice soon.  Let me know if I can do anything.  Healing thoughts to Summer.  :luv: :-*

My dogs tend to eat grass, I think helps them to bring things up. Has she posssibly eaten something outside, Check her gums they should be a healthy pink colour. If they are pale I would seek advice from your vet. You can ring them anyway just for advice. Dogs tend shiver/shake when they are in pain. Hopefully just be a tummy upset, but if you are concerned give your vet a ring.

Try and encourage her to drink plenty and keep an eye on her. If she seems hungry try her on boiled rice and chicken.
If she won't drink or seems to be getting worse phone the vet.
Poor Summer, I hope she's feeling better soon  :-*

Thanks for the replys. I got really worried this evening as she seemed to get worse, she was kicking her back legs when she laid down and also starting whining. I telephoned the vets and had to take her down straight away. He examined her and thinks she has swallowed something thats caused an obstruction (something triangular), they're operating on her now so I'm waiting for a phone call.

Playmobile! My son got the big box out in the conservatory yesterday, he's supposed to keep the door shut because Harvey loves things like that. Never thought it would be Summer though.
