Well, after Chloe and her long battle, I never thought I would hear this uttered again but it came up today at Kali's vet visit. A few days ago when Kali was sleeping on the settee, I noticed a stained patch of nasal fluid on the leather. It was only lightly tinged but it set me off worrying so I took her to the vet today. I explained that about 3 weeks ago, I dropped a bone on her bed for her but she got underneath and it hit her on the nose. It didn't bleed at the time and she didn't seem too bothered but I wondered if I had caused some sort of trauma
Also, she seems to have slowed down a bit. Not a lot, just slightly and it also bothered me.
So, she has been examined and apart from a slight tenderness in her abdomen, he couldn't find anything else wrong. She has no temperature, her nose is showing no sign of swelling and there is no obstruction. He said it may just be that she is getting older now and so isn't so inclined to do the mad puppy thing
Of course, we were then left with unexplained blood loss and he asked if I had heard of AIHA. I assured him that there wasn't much he could tell me about it but that it hadn't crossed my mind. He said that she seemed fine but that they can sometimes be anaemic without any noticeable signs. Anyway, the upshot of all this is that he is satisfied today that all is ok but that if she still has this slight lethargy in a week or two, I am to take her back for a full blood screen.
To be honest, I didn't hear much after he said AIHA. All I could think of was 'Dear Lord, not again' I feel sick to my stomach now
